The first choice of the day

There’s this quote from psychiatrist Viktor Frankl, written after surviving the nazi concentration camps:

“Everything can be taken from a person but one thing: the last of the human freedoms to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances.”

That quote sits at the heart of our work. By personal experiences we also came to know that choice, not control, is the most powerful thing a human being has. Not choice in some grand, world-saving sense, but the kind that begins before the day fully starts. If you start the day already braced for disappointment, you’ll likely find it. Psychologist Nickerson’s work on confirmation bias reminds us that what we expect tends to be what we find. But if you meet the world with even a sliver of steadiness, the odds shift.

As your underwear, so is your day

So yes, we make underwear. And we don’t claim that it will change your life. Frankly, it’s just a piece of fabric. A well crafted piece, but still a piece. What we do believe, and what we’ve designed for, is that one small daily ritual might help you meet your life differently. That it might help you to see yourself in the world differently, in small but meaningful ways. And to help you live the life you currently live.

Choice shapes perception

This thought is backed by yet another psychologist, Albert Bandura, who has spent decades showing how self-efficacy, the belief that your actions matter, changes outcomes. And no, that’s not for everyone. Some will think it’s too much to say about a piece of fabric. That’s okay. But for those who know how quickly self-doubt can settle in, or how rare it is to feel genuinely at ease in your own skin, they’ll get it.

Made for people, not for ideals

When we say we start closer to home, we mean it. Not in theory. In design, in pattern work, in how we build each pair to last longer than the cycle of forced replacement. We know that most garment returns come down to bad fit, not bad taste. So we’ve built around real bodies, not idealised forms. We don’t want you to need another pair in three months. We want you to choose another pair because you liked the first one so much, you actually noticed.

A better world, one self at a time

The truth is, the world doesn't need another brand shouting promises it can’t keep. It needs more people who feel grounded enough to show up honestly. And maybe that starts with something as unremarkable as underwear.

What’s your first choice of the day?
